Marina Aleksejeva's work on display at Omicum gallery

In the Omicum atrium, Marina Aleksejeva's drawings themed "Mice tickled the navel, you're free from the game" are on display from 1st April until 26th May.

Marina Aleksejeva works at Tartu Art School and Tartu Children's Art School as a teacher. She graduated from the Painting Department of the University of Tartu in 1995 and has participated in exhibitions since 1992. She defended her Master's thesis at the University of Tartu in 2016.

According to the artist, we are surrounded by people and their stories. "There are so many stories, and they intertwine with the next people and their stories," explains Aleksejeva.

It's hard to tell where the end and the beginning are, where is a hectic roundabout game going on with someone about to be pushed in. To have a clearer image, we need to take several steps backwards towards simplicity.

The drawings in the atrium are inspired by people's stories. "To keep the game a secret. Using shapes to simplify the complex rules of the game," says the artist. Marker drawings were created between 2019 and 2024.
